With more than 25 years of solid experience, R. Schmidt Construction is that builder. We will guide you every step of the way with thoroughness and professionalism. From the initial meeting through the final cleanup, we will personally manage and monitor your project so you can relax and put your worries aside. We will listen to your questions and concerns and will always treat you with respect. We don’t cut corners, because we believe that doing things right the first time is the best way to keep costs down, stay on schedule and keep you, our client, happy. And, we’re confident our hands-on project management approach will give you the best building or remodeling experience possible.
This is the mindset of our founder, Robert “Rob” Schmidt. Rob has a deep passion for building that began when he was just a boy growing up in Mill Valley, California. Inspired by books by the renowned woodworker James Krenov, Rob attended Krenov’s Fine Woodworking Program in Ft. Bragg, CA. It was this experience of being personally trained by a master woodworker that gave Rob a true understanding of what fine craftsmanship is. In addition to this specialized training, Rob also holds a degree in Construction Technology.
Although Rob began his career building custom cabinets, for 20 years he has worked on a variety of custom residential projects in Marin County. His experience has run the gamut, from carpenter on remodels to foreman on multi-million dollar, highly complex residential projects. During this time, he gained a wealth of practical knowledge in all aspects of residential construction. It was these years of experience, and his love for hand-crafted woodworking, that led Rob to pursue his dream of designing and building his own home and to ultimately launch R. Schmidt Construction.
